The growing adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) presents a significant opportunity for communities to improve sustainability while catering to the needs of EV drivers. Hilltop Village Corporation, spanning nine buildings in Hollis, Queens, recognized this need and sought to transform its parking infrastructure into a robust EV charging hub. Faced with power constraints and the complexity of managing such a large-scale project, Hilltop turned to Source Forward and DVM Industries to provide a seamless, future-proof solution.
The result? The largest Level 2 EV charging project in New York State, featuring 424 EV charging stations designed to meet current demand while preparing for future growth.
Hilltop Village Corporation needed to install hundreds of EV charging stations across multiple parking areas, but the project came attached with significant challenges:
These challenges required a partner with deep technical knowledge, strong utility relationships, and a proven ability to deliver complex EV infrastructure projects.
Source Forward and DVM Industries’ experienced team collaborated closely with Hilltop and Con Edison to deliver a customized, scalable solution that addressed every aspect of the project.
We designed and installed 424 EV charging stations across Hilltop’s nine buildings, utilizing in-house engineering expertise to create a system tailored to the property’s unique needs. To future-proof the installation, we incorporated oversized conduits, additional pull boxes, and expanded panels, ensuring the infrastructure could support future station additions with minimal disruption.
Working with Con Edison for over a year, our team navigated the region’s power constraints to secure the necessary upgrades and approvals. We also managed all permitting processes with local municipalities, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and avoiding project delays.
From heavy trenching and conduit installation to panel upgrades and station deployment, Source Forward and DVM Industries handled every detail of the installation process. The project included advanced site work, signage, line striping, and networked software for payment collection and utility reporting, delivering a turnkey solution.
To offset costs, our team managed all rebate applications and utility paperwork, securing $4.9 million in incentives. This brought the net project cost down to $3.6 million, making the investment significantly more accessible for Hilltop.
The partnership between Source Forward and DVM Industries and Hilltop Village Corporation successfully delivered New York State’s largest Level 2 EV charging hub.
